LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop sensations Hanson and producer/ rapper Sean "Puffy" Combs won two prizes each at Nickelodeon's 11th annual Kids' Choice Awards Saturday, but a talking cat upstaged everyone. Salem, an opinionated feline on ABC's hit sitcom "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," introduced a surreal note to the 90-minute ceremony when he appeared in a cloud of smoke on top of a garbage can to collect his favorite animal award from a bemused Alicia Silverstone. "I've got news for James Cameron. Who's king of the world now, pal?" Salem told the 8,000 over-excited children at the event. However, writer/director Cameron's Oscar-winning "Titanic" was named favorite film, and the award was claimed by Billy Zane, who played the film's upper-crust villain. Rosie O'Donnell hosted the fast-paced show at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion, and it was broadcast on cable's Nickelodeon network. Results were based on votes cast by more than five million children. The trophy is an orange blimp, the network's emblem. Actors Will Smith, "Sabrina" star Melissa Joan Hart, Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Silverstone were also among the winners at the ceremony. Tia and Tamera Mowry of the WB's "Sister, Sister," were entered into the Hall of Fame. Hanson, three brothers from Tulsa, Okla., won for favorite musical group and for favorite song, "MMMBop." They performed their new single "Weird" at the event. Other performers included rock veterans Aerosmith and Combs, who sings under the stage name, Puff Daddy. He won in the favorite singer and favorite dresser categories. Aerosmith performed "Pink." Best known for songs drenched in sexual innuendo, the band appeared to be an odd choice for a show watched mostly by children aged 2-11. However, vocalist Steven Tyler said backstage that it was a natural fit. "If you think about it, we all came from 25-26 years ago, with the Beatles and the Stones," he said. "Remember the crowds they drew? Us being one of them. (The Nick show) was like 30,000 16-year-old kids, that screaming, that pitch, that energy. That's what that's all about." Earlier, Hart came backstage and said she was meeting with Shirley Temple Black this week to discuss playing the former child star in a film project. She declined to give further details. Among other backstage revelations, Hanson said they would be touring North America later this year after playing dates in Australia and Britain.
